OPS Code Orange

 Operation Code Orange

Sitrep by End3rw

TL;DR: We survived and had great fun! Created 121 fields, earned 938K MU and over 370K AP.

/Crazy shit HO extract/
Fortifer> I’ve got a great plan for a BAF
End3rw> When do you want to create it?
Fortifer> Euh
Fortifer> Insert image here for a mind boggling nice BAF (no sneak peak previews though, so just imagine something nice and be sure it will be better)
End3rw> Actually I would like to do some Ingress by bike (and leave the car at home).
End3rw> Tomorrow evening?
Fortifer> I will sleep over it

Next day

Fortifer> I’ve got a great plan for a BBAF (bigass bike field)
End3rw> Cool
Fortifer> We’ll deploy a crosslink on the northside of NM, bike to AB and shoot 11 layers, jarvis and go to the next portal, and repeat
End3rw> Euh sounds good (no clue, but in life you have to take some chances)
Fortifer> We just have to farm some keys for these portals (insert image here with an absolute mess of planned linkes and marked portals everywhere)
End3rw> I am on my way. I only do not know where to go… (19.45 hours)
Fortifer> Where are you?
End3rw> Euh, still around my house, got a little bit distracted. (20.15 hours)

Then we got really started, we farmed the portals at the east anchor, took us just over 1.5 hours to get 10 keys for each portal (worst hack/minute farm ever). Then of to the west anchor taking a bike path next to the Nieuwe meer (which is a large lake on the south side of Amsterdam for anyone who doesn’t know it). This journey proved to be exemplary for the rest of the evening. The wind was turning into an actual storm, which could pick op good speed with the open area of the lake. Around the lake is the Amsterdam Forrest, therefore no lack of supply of freshly broken branches for on the road. And of course no street lights. To top things of, we had to cross an area with Scottish cattle (big cows with long hair and even longer horns). We survived in still good conditions.
We split up after the first farm round to do some more farming while the Fortifer removed the 2 solo blockers, I farmed some keys in a deserted area west of the Nieuwe Meer. Not completely deserted, I had the occasional car to drive me off the road into the grass. But again we survived. Bit tired now (23.42) but still going strong.
We deployed our first links and drove back to the east anchor. Yes again through the cattle area, and yes we ran into the monsters, and no they did not move an inch and were just chewing their food. So we survived again but the storm was taking its toll, around 23.56 we deployed our links towards the west anchors.
Of to our south anchors, in Amstelveen, in the middle of the Amsterdam Forrest, around half an hour bike ride. When we arrived we started to feel just a bit lucky to have been able to avoid most fallen branches, specifically the larger ones. At 00.30 we created the first set of fields, we repeated the fields at 00.40, 00.42, 00.54, 01.00, 01.10, 01.15, 01.25, 01.30, 01.37 and 01.42. Like some famous Dutch soccer player said, every disadvantage has its advantage: we were now that late into the night fielding that nobody bothered us in the time between the Jarvis destruction of the field and the new creation of the field.

With 11 times 11 layers of fields we were able to accumulate 938.751 MUs, together with the unexpected AP doubler we earned 378246 AP just for the fields. Which made me reach Level 11. After some celebrations we ate some wel deserved candy. To be honest, our children earned those candy bars with singing pretty songs at Sint Maarten (Dutch version of Halloween trick or treat). Then we decided to see how we could get back, since neither of us had any clue anymore where we were after driving as fast as possible from one portal towards the next. This turned into a nice final surprise (guess…) yes, 45 minutes bike ride straight through the forrest again. By the way, Dutch forests have paved bike paths some of them with street lights, so although it sounds dangerous to go through in the middel of the night during a storm it was not that dangerous at all. Just a bit inconvenient and very tiresome. Finally I arrived at my home at 02.54. You do not want to know where my body ached after riding my bike for 7 hours straight, but you can imagine.

Now I know what the weather guys mean with a code orange forecast: Great Ingress weather, but try to stay in the city with lots of sheltered area’s. Preferable on foot since that reduces the chances you get blown away.

Did have lot’s of fun though. And after a recovery of at least three days I think I will be ready for some new crazy shit playing Ingress.
